The power of paint on changing a room’s feel isn’t always known.
When out doing quotes, we nearly always get asked about how a paint colour can change the feel of a room, verbally trying to explain this without a physical example can be hard at times and gets lost in translation.
It must come across as some sort of witchcraft, which it actually isn’t.
We have in the past had customers wanting to darken an already small room space, painting it a darker colour will in fact make that room feel even smaller and very cold to be in.
Then you have the old Victorian homes with their really high ceilings, paint can be used to make the ceiling feel a lot lower than what it really is, we say when thinking about your decorating in a room with a high ceiling is being bold and daring to go for something different than a white ceiling.
Another feature of old Victorian homes are their extra high walls, these can also be made to look less in height by adding a border, this can be with a dado rail, a border wallpaper with a feature wallpaper, colour of paint of choice, rag rolling or other special paint effect underneath it.
The image below show perfectly how paint can change how your room feels in size and depth.
